Today was such a bittersweet day. It was definitely my most formal dance in high school. Senior Cotillion. It was that last big dance for the class of 2013. We have made it so far, and i never thought i would be at senior cotillion wishing i was still in high school ready for another year of school. I feel so old graduating and moving on with life. But anyways... It was a stag dance and we just wanted it to be low key and party with our friends and not worry about anything. For our day date, we did a serious amazing experience. We went to the Homestead Crater and swam. It was so worth the $20. Who goes swimming in a crater for their day date? Only the coolest 4 best friends ever (Since the boys were lame and said it was dumb) We drove to Heber and we got there to check in...well.. You had to be 18 to go in without parent consent. Well shoot.... we are all 17, and definitely didn't have parents with us. We are all nervous, but just go with it to see if they notice. We start filling out the papers, and the lady is like, "Ok, just be a witness for each other." So we sign, and they didn't even I.D us at all. They didn't even question us. We participated in an illegal day date. Its fine (; We are rebels.
We get in the crater and get our life jacket on. We ask the cute old man at the desk in the crater to take our pictures. While you swim, scuba divers were swimming under us. And it pulls you towards the walls, so you can see them under you. Bay was scared to death. One of the scuba instructors was super cool and let us use his mask to see underneath since he was sad we didnt rent one. We started talking to him about the crater and all the different things about it. He said a turtle and a lobster lived in there and he said he would go get them. We didn't believe him, but he was gone for a while. He comes up by us with a turtle. Brayds asked to pet it and he let her but it jumped and tried to bite her face...It was FAKE! Dirthead. Tricked us. Then Ash asked what the red line was and he said "Oh that's the lobster line." And then threw the lobster at her and we all freaked out!
He left and went to teach his class and we continued to swim. Me and Ash went in the middle of the crater under the hole in the roof. The water was 96 degrees and really warm, we laid on our backs under the hole and it was raining. With the heat of the water and the cool rain on hitting your face, it was seriously one of the absolute coolest experiences. It was absolutely breathtaking.
After a while, the scuba instructor came back and said, "Since i scared you guys come here. I want you to try something." We followed him to a section of the crater where you can take off your life jacket. He let us use his scuba gear to go under and see what it would be like. We used his oxygen tank and goggles and everything. We would normally have to pay $150 but he was a gem and let us try it just because. I instantly fell in love with him. It was such an amazing experience that i was glad i could participate in during my absolutely crazy senior year. I will never forget it.
After the day date, we went home and got ready and then went and got pictures and went to Chili's. After we ate, we went to the dance.. FINALLY. I live for high school dances. It was so cool! There was a giant banner that said 2013 on it that you had to walk under to get into the dance. There was also a photobooth that could fit up to 15 people, and you could take as many pictures as you wanted. Zupas also catered. It was absolutely ridiculous. It was a PaRtY thats for sure. We are a crazy class what can i say? Anytime a mosh pit would happen, they would stop it and play a slow one, which was pretty much all the time. We jammed and danced the night away. I absolutely loved it! As it was ending though, it was really sad to think that was my last time walking out of my high school in a formal dress. I made the best of it though, and wore a dress i have been wanting to wear since my very first dance. It was a wonderful night.

This is the best group of friends a girl could ask for. They have influenced me in so many ways that they will never know. I love them with all my heart and glad i got to spend my senior year with them. |
